Academy Tigers Swim Squad

The squad provides competitive skills training for swimmers born 2008 -2012. Squad training is held under the ‘umbrella’ of the Penguins Swimming Academy. The Tigers club will remain in private ownership, but will never be run for the purpose of returning an annual profit.

Key Objectives:

  1. To provide a professional transition from Learn to Swim through to County Championship level.
  2. To provide a sustainable, high level, Professional coaching input throughout a young swimmer’s skill acquisition/development period.

Training time:

  1. Skills 1 Squad – Sun 5-6.30pm
  2. Skills 2 Squad – Sun 5 -6.30pm & Mon 6.30-7.30pm
  3. Skills 3 Squad – Sun 5.30-7.30pm & Mon 6.30-7.30pm
  4. County Potential Squad – Sun 5.30-7.30pm, Mon 7.30-8.30pm & Thurs 6.30-8.30pm

New swimmers will usually start in Skills 1 and progress according to ability and age. The ‘Skills’ squads are based primarily on technique improvement. The County Potential squad has 3hrs of aerobic work in preparation for County Championships qualification.

New Members

All Tigers swimmers will be required to become members of Leicester Sharks Competitive Swimming Club and represent them at junior level (the process will be explained).

The Academy Tigers is no ordinary swim squad, the professionalism and standard of the coaching will ensure an environment where success is inevitable. However, we will require commitment from both swimmers and parents. All swimmers will be required to attend a minimum of 80% of their allocated sessions (most will be 100% or close to).

Fees

Fees are charged per block, though monthly equivalents are as follows:

Skills 1 squad (1 x 90mins per week) 31* per month

*With effect from January 2018 children will only be allowed to train in the Skills 1, 2 & 3 squads, if they continue with their 30min Penguins Swimming Academy lesson, up to and including the Emperor level.
